<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 1, 1964 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on June 1, 1964. <br />Members present Mayor Johnson, Meyer, Norris, and Briggs. The meeting was called to order by <br />Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />The council appropriated $200.00 for the Fire Department Convention and agreed to purchase from <br />the gasoline fires. <br /> <br />The following were present at the meeting and there was discussion on the curb and gutter project <br />on Morton Ave, Norfolk Ave, and Manor Place. They want to know if property owner must pay for <br />curb and gutter on the side of the lot as well as on the front. <br /> <br />Nothing further was decided at this time. Those present, Dr. Roehlke, Albert Bailey, Rodney <br />Anderson. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Meyer that the council authorize engineer Mills to <br />submit a preliminary report on the construction of sanitary sewers, street grading, graveling, paving <br />curb and gutter for the following areas: Morton Ave, Norfolk Ave, Manor Place, the proposed street <br />from Morton Ave to Lookout Place and 180 feet south of School Street from Proctor Ave to a <br />point 242 feet east. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made Meyer and seconded by Norris that the proposed extension of Evans Ave as <br />shown on a plat by Don E. Pepper, dated May 20, 1964 is approved and will be accepted as a public <br />street when it has been improved to the requirements of the village. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Norris to approve sewer 242 feet from Proctor Ave <br />parallel to School Street south of apartment house. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Others present at this meeting were Engineer Wm Mills, Attorney John E. MacGibbon, Rev. <br />McKewin, Frank Nickerson, Otis Nickerson, and Ed Hillstrom, architect for Guardian Angels <br />Foundation. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Fairbanks Morse – supplies (sewer) 30.69 <br />Davis Food – tissue 4.44 <br />Gordon Johnson – service 36.50 <br />Kemper Drug – supplies 3.10 <br />N. Central Gas Co – fuel (sewer) 60.53 <br />E.R. Utilities – L&P 137.38 <br />Fire Department – fires 69.00 <br />Hoglunds – flowers 15.15 <br />Fire and Safety Inc – lights 20.30 <br />Elk River Mch Shop – repairs 15.15 <br />Hetrick’s Standard – gas 2.46 <br />First Nat’l Bank – box rent 4.40 <br /> <br />
