Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Troy Adams, P.E.—General Manager <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> October 9, 2018 6.1 a <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA)met on <br /> September 25, 2018 at the offices of Shakopee Public Utilities. Commissioner Al Nadeau <br /> and I were both in attendance. <br /> The Board was informed that a tornado caused some damage at Faribault Energy Park. <br /> The extent of the damage is currently being assessed and MMPA is working with its <br /> insurance carrier to document the damage and repair the facility. <br /> The Hometown Solar project at Clover Ridge Elementary School in Chaska has been <br /> commissioned. <br /> Customer penetration of MMPA's Clean Energy Choice program increased to 3.0%of all <br /> residential customers. Since the beginning of 2018,the number of program participants <br /> has increased by 21%. <br /> • On September 26, I held a quarterly meeting with Greg Ridderbusch the President& <br /> Chief Executive Officer for Connexus Energy. We had discussed Great River Energy <br /> (GRE),the Conservation Improvement Program(CIP), service territory, our state <br /> associations, legislative advocacy, new technologies, and industry trends. As always, our <br /> quarterly meetings produce great discussion and bring to light opportunities. <br /> • On October 1, I met with Jack Kegel, Executive Director for the Minnesota Municipal <br /> Utilities Association(MMUA). We discussed the MMUA safety program, CIP, and <br /> upcoming legislative advocacy. Although I have rolled off the MMUA board, I am <br /> currently still the chair of the MMUA government relations committee. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 65 <br />
