They very soon realized
they needed more space and moved into a property on Railroad Drive next to the Lumber Yard in Elk
River. First National Bank approached him with a financial package to purchase the building.

Three years later, they concluded they needed highway exposure. Mr. Minor purchased 10 acres from the
Jacobson family where he is today. He sold some land to the day care and gave a lot in the back of his
building to Habitat for Humanity to build a home. He has very good customers a lot of repeat business!
He prides himself on selling good cars! “It has been a fun ride!”

Jerry was a manufacturing engineer for 10 years before starting his business. Cars were always his hobby
and passion. He was able to take something he loved doing and turn it into his own business. Jerry’s of
Elk River has always been a family business.

Over the years all three of Jerry and Thiry’s children have worked at the business. Today, their daughter
Laurie is the office manager and Eric, their son-in-law is the General Manager.

Jerry, Thiry, Eric, and Laurie feel the best part about the car business is the people they meet. Buying a
car is an exciting experience for most people. They document every sale with a picture of the new owner
and their new vehicle. Jerry’s of Elk River has photo albums with up to 3 generations of the same family!

Financial Impact
N/A

Attachments
 None

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity
