Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Mark Fuchs—Electric Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
September 11, 2018 6.1c
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Had 26 new house services.
• Continue working on collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time permits.
• Continue to install the infrastructure in Areas 5&6 heading north of the Waco substation.
There are 29 customers that we will begin acquiring on September 13. The majority of
the customers will be acquired on September 18.
• We started putting the infrastructure in Area 7 for the territory we'll be acquiring in 2019.
• Installed a single phase underground loop in Area 4 that tied Islandview Drive and 189th
Avenue.
• Michels Pipeline completed the joint trenching in Miske Meadows 4th Addition. We are
in the process of getting the infrastructure terminated. There are a total of 72 lots in the
addition.
• Now that the cable television providers have removed their wire from our poles, we are
working on the removal of those poles in the Otsego area. As a majority of the poles are
located in the rear lot line, we are using the city's UVT to help haul material in and out of
the area.
• An overhead feeder line burnt down along Highway 169 by the ERX track; this caused a
small grass fire and an outage on Feeder 65 on August 31.
• We've had multiple secondary services that have been recently damaged; someone
backed into a single phase transformer damaging the transformer box pad and elbows,
and a transformer box pad was run over in Miske Meadows. All these damages will be
billed out to the individuals who caused them.
• ERMU has received a national commendation from the American Public Power
Association (APPA) for its support in electric power restorations in Kissimmee and Lake
Worth, Florida. ERMU participates in the APPA's Mutual Aid Network, which
coordinates with utilities and authorities during widespread power outages. The APPA
Mutual Aid Commendation was established in 2018 to recognize public power utilities
that have answered the call for assistance and aided another community in restoring
power to its customers. The commendations are attached.
ATTACHMENTS:
• APPA Mutual Aid Commendation— Lake Worth, Florida
Page 1 of 2
206
