Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Troy Adams, P.E.— General Manager <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> September 11, 2018 6.1a <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) met on <br /> August 28, 2018 at the offices of Elk River Municipal Utilities. Commissioner Al Nadeau <br /> and I were both in attendance. <br /> The Board was informed about the status of transition activities related to Elk River <br /> beginning to buy power from MMPA on October 1, 2018. Most activities are complete, <br /> with the remaining ones nearing completion. <br /> Forty three new customers joined MMPA's Clean Energy Choice program in the last <br /> month, bringing the total to nearly 1,600. <br /> • I am currently servicing on a workgroup with the Minnesota Rural Electric Association <br /> (MREA) and Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) to review the State of <br /> Minnesota's Conservation Improvement Program (CIP). This workgroup held a meeting <br /> on September 4 at the MMUA offices in Plymouth, MN. The group reviewed results <br /> from the July 17 stakeholder meeting and discussed next steps with the CIP to CEEP <br /> (Comprehensive Efficient Energy Program) initiative. <br /> • I attended the September 6 Downtown Association meeting by their request to discuss the <br /> ERMU's plans for the downtown street lights. A test street light was recently installed on <br /> Main Street in front of The Bank of Elk River. This fixture is currently being evaluated <br /> for lighting performance. <br /> • Theresa Slominski and I met with Andy Berg and Justin Nilson from Abdo, Eick, & <br /> Meyer for an annual audit follow-up meeting on September 5. <br /> • Interviews for the System Engineer position on September 7 and 10. Interviews for the <br /> Lead Bore Rig Operator position on September 12. <br /> • Theresa Slominski, Jennie Nelson, and I had a conference call with National Information <br /> Solutions Cooperative (NISC) to discuss software optimization and department <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> 198 <br />
