<br /> <br />*Item 3.6.* <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />DATE: May 2, 2005 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Authorize to Contract for Purchase and Installation of <br />Playground Equipment at Kleiver Point Park <br /> <br />Background: <br />The 2005 parks capital improvement budget included $60,000 for purchase and installation <br />of a playground at Kleiver Point Park. This sum includes concrete edging and safety <br />surfacing. Requests for proposals were sent to four park equipment companies. Based on the <br />square footage available at the park site a "not to exceed" amount of $45,000 was specified. <br />Proposals were to be "turn key" with installation of equipment and safety surface by the <br />contractor. The concrete edging was included in the bid package for the King Avenue <br />parking lot. <br /> <br />Summary: <br />Four ro osals were received. The are as follows: <br />PLAYGROUND PROPOSALS <br />MNWI PIa round $42,980 <br />Webber Recreational Inc. $44,027 <br />Clearwater Recreation $45,000 <br />Earl F. Anderson $45,000 <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff and Park Commission members have reviewed the proposals, and believe that the <br />proposal from MN /WI Playground provides the most play features at the best price. <br /> <br />Action Requested: <br />Authorize staff to contract for purchase and installation of playground equipment from <br />MN/WI Playground Golden Valley MN, 55427 for a total of $42,640. <br /> <br />Attachment: <br />Playground plan <br />
