-= City of Elk River <br />ver City Council <br />Resolution 18- 53 <br />A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Opposing the Sale of <br />Strong Beer, Wine and Spirits in Grocery and Convenience Stores <br />WHEREAS, the sale of strong beer, wine and spirits has long been regulated to preserve <br />public health and minimize public safety concerns; and <br />WHEREAS, to promote public safety and public health, cities have an interest in <br />preventing the increased alcohol availability associated with increased alcohol related <br />problems in both youth and at risk adults; and <br />WHEREAS, the public safety and health risks created by increasing access to youth and at <br />risk adults and the increase of alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents far outweigh any <br />convenience to the public of relaxing present regulations and allowing the sale of strong <br />beer, wine and spirits in grocery and convenience stores. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk <br />River, Minnesota, as follows: We oppose the sale of strong beer, wine and spirits in grocery <br />and convenience stores. <br />Passed and adopted this 4`h day of September 2018. <br />C_, <br />C� <br />J n J. ietz, M <br />ATTEST: <br />r7l <br />Tina Allard, City Clerk <br />raree¢1 er <br />friATURE <br />
