City of <br /> Pn(411 ..., <br /> Elk <br /> Memorandum Item: 5.2 <br /> ............ <br /> River <br /> To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> From: Tim Sevcik, Street and Park Superintendent <br /> Date: August 8, 2018 <br /> Subject: Staff Report <br /> Athletic Field Update <br /> Staff continues to work with the irrigation and well contractors at DAAC to install the new irrigation <br /> system. The project was delayed due to a backorder on a key part of the system,a remote relay that <br /> provides signal between the Kuss Field Well and DAAC well to synchronize water flow between the <br /> wells. This part is anticipated to arrive the week of August 6,2018, and should be installed soon after <br /> arrival. In addition,while boring the pipe connecting the two wells, the direction bore rig severed the <br /> main line that feeds the irrigation system. Staff is working with the vendor to make the necessary repairs <br /> and expects completion on August 7, 2018. <br /> The Youth Lacrosse season at OKAC was completed on August 5, 2018. Staff will be working over the <br /> next three weeks to replace turf in warn areas, core pull, over seed and fertilize the field in preparation <br /> for the start of Youth Football beginning on August 25, 2018. In addition, to striping the two fields for <br /> football,Youth Lacrosse has requested the use of Kliever Lake Fields for fall practices; staff will be <br /> working to prepare a 3/4 size field to accommodate the request. <br /> Park Improvement Fund Update <br /> Staff has begun work in preparation for the playground installation at Deerfield Hill Park. Staff has <br /> removed the existing timber retaining wall which was failing at the site, and expanded the playground <br /> area by 2000 square feet to accommodate the new equipment. Staff will be working to build the new <br /> retaining wall,remove the existing playground and conduct site grading over the next two weeks. <br /> Installation of the new playground equipment is anticipated to begin the last week of August with <br /> completion in mid-September.
