—C1 AK <br /> ELK RIVER MUNICIPAL UTILITIES <br /> 322 King Avenue <br /> Elk River, Minnesota 55330 <br /> Phone (612) 441-2020 <br /> UTILITIES COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> September 8, 1992 <br /> 4: 00 P.M. <br /> Present Were: George Zabee President <br /> James Tralle Vice Chairman <br /> James Simpson Trustee <br /> Others present: Bill Birrenkott General Manager <br /> Glenn Sundeen <br /> Bob McCartney <br /> 1) The meeting was called to order at 4 : 00 P.M. by President Zabee. <br /> 2) Motion by Mr. Simpson seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the <br /> agenda. The motion carried. <br /> 3) Motion by Mr. Tralle, seconded by Mr. Simpson to approve the <br /> minutes of the previous meeting as distributed. The motion <br /> carried. <br /> 4) A request from the City of Elk River was discussed. The request <br /> was for help funding a proposed new fire truck. Motion by Mr. <br /> Zabee, seconded by Mr. Simpson to table this matter until more <br /> information and a presentation by the City would clarify the exact <br /> nature and amount of aid required. The motion carried. <br /> 5) The General Manager reported that the old building sign had been <br /> removed and not replaced with a new one. The Commission suggested <br /> that the sign not be replaced at this time. It may be considered <br /> at a later date. <br /> 6) A survey of various communities which compared water rates and <br /> Water Connection Fees with those charged by Elk River. It was the <br /> consensus of opinion that Elk River's Water Connection Charge was <br /> below what it should be to offset actual costs of installation and <br /> replacement of facilities. Staff was directed to present at a <br /> future meeting recommendations for new Water Connection Charges. <br /> It was decided that rates for water consumption should not be <br /> changed at this time. <br /> 7) The General Manager reviewed the August financial statements with <br /> the Commissioners. <br /> 8) The Line Superintendent reported on the status of construction <br /> projects and other operating conditions. <br />
