COMMISSION MEETING July 11, 1989 Tuesday 7:00 P.M. Present Were: James Tralle President Jim Simpson Trustee Bill Birrenkott General Manager Others Present: Glenn Sundeen Bob McCartney Absent Was: George Zabee 1) The meeting was called to order at 7 : 00 P.M. by President Tralle. 2) Motion by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as presented and distributed. Motion carried. 3) The complexity of the newer environmental laws were discussed and concern was expressed that we may not be in compliance in several areas. Motion by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr . Tralle to create the position of Environmental Compliance Officer and Water Superintendent at a starting salary of $35,000 per annum, effective July 8, 1989, - to be filled by Robert McCartney. The salary would be increased to $36,050 per annum effective January 1, 1990 . The position of Water Foreman would be eliminated. Motion carried. 4) Motion by Mr . Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to authorize the expenditure of $1100 for partitions in the office. Motion carried. 5) Motion by Mr . Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to authorize the expenditure of $37,000 for the construction of a building to store transformers and other material and equipment. Motion carried. 6) Two estimates were presented to solve the water distribution problems at Lookout Place. The General Manager was directed to notify the affected landowners regarding these proposals and invite them to our next meeting. 7) Motion by Mr . Tralle, seconded by Mr. Simpson to proceed with the installation of lighting at the new water tower at utility expense. Motion carried. 8) The General Manager updated the Commissioners on the status of negotiations with Anoka Electric Cooperative. 9) The Commissioners reviewed and discussed the June financial statements with the staff . 10) The Line Superintendent updated the Commission on the status of construction projects .
