COMMISSION MEETING <br /> March 8, 1988 <br /> Tuesday 7 : 00 P.M. <br /> Present Were: Douglas Dill President <br /> George Zabee Trustee <br /> Bill Birrenkott General Manager <br /> Absent Was: James Tralle Vice Chairman <br /> Others Present: Glenn Sundeen Line Superintendent <br /> 1) The meeting was called to order at 7 : 00 P.M. By President <br /> Dill . <br /> 2) Motion by Mr . Zabee, seconded by Mr . Dill to approve the <br /> minutes of the previous meeting as presented. Motion carried. <br /> 3) Paul Erich of the audit firm of Olsen, Theilen and Company <br /> presented the final audit for the year 1987 . He stated that the <br /> books were in good shape and the audit was presented without <br /> qualifications. Motion by Mr . Zabee seconded by Mr. Dill to <br /> receive and file the 1987 audit report. Motion carried . <br /> 4) The general Manager reported that the General Ledger has been <br /> converted to the new system. The customer billing and accounting <br /> system is about 40% complete and the plans are to parallel the <br /> March billings to check the system. If everything goes as <br /> planned we will surplus the System 36 sometime in May or June. <br /> 5) It was reported that all purchased power proposals have been <br /> received except the request from Basin Electric Power. R.W. Beck <br /> will be here on Monday, March 14th to review our procedures and <br /> make recommendations . <br /> 6) The General Manager reported that Robert Eller has been retained <br /> as the consultant to the downtown association for the decorative <br /> street lighting and sound system. He will prepare <br /> specifications, accept bids , and oversee the construction on any <br /> system decided upon. His cost will be assessed to the benefiting <br /> parties . <br /> 7) Mikro-Tel is proceeding with the installation of their demand <br /> side management system. <br /> 8) The General Manager reviewed the January financials with the <br /> commission. <br /> 9) It was reported that the EPA has initiated a regulation which <br /> will require us to notify our water customers of the hazards of <br /> lead contamination and possible remedies. It was noted that our <br /> water is tested often and is well below the EPA guidelines for <br /> lead content. Motion by Mr . Dill seconded by Mr . Zabee to <br /> publish the required notice in the Elk River Star News one time a <br /> month for three consecutive months. Motion carried. <br /> 10 ) The Next meeting was set for Thursday, April 14th at 7: 00 P.M. at <br /> the Utilities office. <br />
