ELIC RIVER MUNICIPAL UTILITIES 322 King Avenue Elk River, Minnesota 55330 Phone (612) 441-2020 UTILITIES COMMISSION MINUTES February 9, 1993 4 :00 P.M. Present Were: James Tralle President James Simpson Vice Chairman George Zabee Trustee Others present: Bill Birrenkott General Manager Hank Duitsman Mayor Glenn Sundeen Line Superintendent Bob McCartney Water Superintendent Pat Klaers City Administrator Terry Maurer City Engineer Rick Foster Developer 1) The meeting was called to order at 4 :00 P.M. by President Zabee. 2 ) Motion by Mr. Simpson seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the agenda. The motion carried. 3) Mr. Simpson nominated Mr. Tralle to serve as President for 1993. Mr. Zabee moved that nominations cease. Mr. Simpson seconded and the motion carried. The Commission then voted unanimously that Mr. Tralle's nomination be accepted. Mr. Tralle then accepted the gavel and assumed the Presidency. 4 ) Mr. Tralle moved, seconded by Mr. Zabee, that the Commission appoint Mr. Simpson to the office of Vice-Chairman for 1993. The motion carried. 5) Motion by Mr. Simpson seconded by Mr. Zabee to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as distributed. The motion carried. 6) At this time a long discussion was held regarding the requirements for water system improvements necessitated by developers. Participating in the discussions were Mayor Duitsman, Terry Maurer, Pat Klaers, Rick Foster as well as all Commissioners and staff of the Utilities. Several scenarios were developed and discussed, however no decisions as far as funding requirements were made. Motion by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Zabee, to authorize Terry Maurer to prepare plans and specifications for a new well and treatment and a water tower in the future Rick Foster development area. The motion carried. 7) The Commissioners decided to invite the City Council to a joint meeting with the Utilities to be held at the Power Plant at 6:00 P.M. on February 17, 1993.
