-(1 <br /> ELK RIVER MUNICIPAL UTILITIES <br /> AY 322 King Avenue <br /> Elk River, Minnesota 55330 <br /> Phone (612) 441-2020 <br /> UTILITIES COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> December 6, 1994 <br /> 3:00 P.M. <br /> Present Were: James Simpson President <br /> George Zabee Vice Chairman <br /> James Tralle Trustee <br /> Others Present: Bill Birrenkott General Manager <br /> Pat Klaers City Administrator <br /> Terry Maurer City Engineer <br /> Bob McCartney Water Superintendent <br /> Bruce West Fire Chief <br /> 1) The meeting was called to order at 3:05 P.M. by President <br /> Simpson. <br /> 2 ) Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the <br /> agenda as amended. The Motion carried. <br /> 3) Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the <br /> minutes of the previous meeting as distributed. The motion <br /> carried. <br /> 4) Terry Maurer reported that the tests of the water at the new <br /> well sight indicated that we would not have to install iron <br /> filtration at this time, but would probably have to in the near <br /> future. Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Tralle to <br /> authorize MSA to proceed with the design to add the filtration <br /> equipment at this time. The Motion carried. <br /> 5) Mr. Tralle reported that some churches in the area have <br /> expressed interest in our security systems and he wondered if <br /> we had a special rate for churches. It was decided that he <br /> should work directly with Steve Nordahl to see what the costs <br /> actually are and then get back with us. <br /> 5) The 1995 Budgets were reviewed with the Commissioners. Motion <br /> by Mr. Tralle, seconded by Mr. Zabee to approve the 1995 <br /> budgets as presented. The Motion carried. <br /> 6) The pending ordinance requiring residents to connect to the <br /> City water system within two years of availability was reviewed <br /> by the Commissioners. The Commissioners directed the General <br /> Manager to contact the City Attorney and ask that the ordinance <br /> be redrafted to exempt the residences in the Westwood area. <br />
