Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> July 10, 2018 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In June,the locating department had a total of 623 locate tickets consisting of six <br /> emergency tickets, 21 cancellations, 6 meetings, 509 normal tickets and 73 updated <br /> tickets. This is a 13%decrease in volume of tickets from the previous month. <br /> • Electric Technicians continue with updating power bill, substation checks, disconnects, <br /> reconnects, dealing with meter and off-peak issues, as well as installing new meters for <br /> commercial customers. Also, staff has completed updating demand meters within Cycle <br /> #2 to the appropriate reset date. This is being done to more accurately reflect the actual <br /> billing period. <br /> • On June 11, a squirrel climbed into the North Substation and caused a fault that opened <br /> the high-side circuit breaker, resulting in an outage to 1423 customers. Staff took an oil <br /> sample from the power transformer for a rush dissolved gas analysis to make sure that the <br /> transformer did not sustain any internal damage from the fault. Staff is also working on <br /> sealing up gaps in the fencing around the entrance to prevent further wildlife intrusion. <br /> • The weekly meter reads continue to go well. The motherboard on one of the meter <br /> reading computers had to be replaced under warranty. There was no interruption in meter <br /> reading thanks to the backup computer. Staff continues to perform meter audits around <br /> the system as time allows. <br /> • On June 28, staff ran Engines 1, 2 & 3. Engine #4 has not been repaired yet. We are still <br /> waiting to hear back from a vendor on the replacement locknuts. The engine has been <br /> rotated without starting to prevent any further problems from sitting. <br /> • Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our <br /> systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The ArcGIS Server has been <br /> configured and is up and running. Our GIS/Mapping Technician will be attending the <br /> ESRI User Conference the 2nd week of July. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 106 <br />
