Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Jennie Nelson—Customer Service Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
July 10, 2018 4.2
SUBJECT:
Automatic Bill Payment for Budget Customers Policy
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve the elimination of the Automatic Bill Payment for Budget Customers Policy
Approve the revised Service Policies Policy
BACKGROUND:
The Automatic Bill Payment for Budget Customers Policy was created when ERMU was
utilizing PowerManager, our old billing software. As PowerManager did not handle any type of
late payment and/or adjustment on a budget account well, we implemented this policy requiring
budget customers to be on automatic bill payment to help avoid those scenarios.
DISCUSSION:
Now that we are on the NISC system, those types of adjustment situations are handled in a better
manner;therefore, the Automatic Bill Payment for Budget Customers Policy is no longer
needed. Additionally, the automatic bill payment requirement is also mentioned in the Budget
Plan section of the Service Policies Policy; edits removing that language are attached for review.
ATTACHMENTS:
• ERMU Policy—A.2 -Automatic Bill Payment for Budget Customers Policy
• Revised -ERMU Policy—A.1 - Service Policies Policy
Page 1 of 1
41
