A small handful of individuals attended two or more sessions. Each session opened with an
overview of the purpose for the listening sessions and included visual displays of the three recreation
facility project proposals. The final two sessions included a straw poll regarding the implementation of
the a Local Option Sales Tax as a funding mechanism and a poll to determine the most desired project of
the three options. The Straw polls identified an overwhelming support for a Local Option Sales Tax and
a desire for a Multipurpose Recreation Facility. Improvements to Lion John Weicht Park are included in
the Multipurpose Recreation Facility Option.
The City Council discussed the listening session and the three recreation facility options at the June 4
work session. They plan to give it additional consideration at the June 18 City Council meeting and
intend to have a final decision by July 1,2018 to ensure the community is fully educated on their
proposal should it be left for a voter referendum.
Financial Impact
N/A
Attachments
• Recreation Facilities Discussion Staff Report to City Council June 4,2018
• Listening Session Recap and Summary Notes
• Recreation Facilities Project Options
• Lions John Weicht Park Renderings
NATURE
