tyof
Ilk
River MEMORANDUM
TO: STEERING COMMITTEE
ii
FROM: STEVEN B. ACH, CITY PLANNE11,< 2'
DATE: SEPTEMBER 22, 1994
As mentioned at the last Steering Committee meeting, City Engineer Terry
Maurer will be present at Thursday night's meeting to discuss two important
topics:
• TRANSPORTATION
• CITY SEWER AND WATER
Both of these issues relate closely with the zoning and land use plan map and
all four (transportation, utilities, zoning, and land use) tie together for the
• purposes of long range planning. For example, future areas to be serviced
with City utilities will require the appropriate land use and zoning
designation along with the plans for necessary road improvements to
accommodate the anticipated growth. Essentially, land use, transportation,
and utilities are dependent upon another and if one is modified, the others
must follow in line.
I would encourage everyone to bring their transportation plan in case there
are items Terry Maurer refers to during his presentation. In addition, I've
enclosed a draft copy of the east trunk Highway 10 feasibility study. The
study basically examines extending City water and sewer east along
Highway 10. This corridor has been identified by the City Council to provide
additional commercial, industrial, and residential opportunities to
accommodate future growth needs. Besides this east Highway 10 corridor,
the Steering Committee may also wish to discuss other areas of the
community that should be considered for future utility extension.
In closing, if any Committee members have questions prior to the meeting,
please feel free to contact me at 441-4902. Also, if you are unable to attend
the meeting Thursday, please contact me in advance. I look forward to
seeing all of you Thursday night when I'm certain we will have a healthy
discussion on these two important topics.
P.O.
