".>"(4 - <br /> Elk <br /> City of <br /> Memorandum Item: 8 <br /> River <br /> To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> From: Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Date: April 11,2018 <br /> Subject: Director's Report <br /> This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to collaborations, strategic <br /> planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations. <br /> Proceed with Park Improvement Projects <br /> City Council will discuss at an April 9, 2018, Special Meeting for the two park improvement projects <br /> to move forward.They include: <br /> • Dave Anderson Athletic Complex scoreboards for$40,000 <br /> • Dave Anderson Athletic Complex irrigation for$120,000 <br /> At the March 5,2018 regular meeting the Council motioned to approve the Oak Knoll athletic field <br /> lighting project and wait on the Dave Anderson Athletic Complex (DAAC) until the work session <br /> where a discussion was scheduled to discuss a referendum for a single,multipourpose civic center. <br /> Following the work session diesussion however, a motion to proceed with these project was not <br /> made. <br /> The Council further discussed the referendum for a civic center at the April 2 work session,but did <br /> not address locating the facility at DAAC. During the meeting, the coundil did express a consensus <br /> to maintain the ice arena at the current location. <br /> Laura Wetch Part time Recreation Assistant Vacancy <br /> The last day of work for Laura Wetch will be Friday,April 13. We will be sad to see her move to <br /> Arizona. The vacancy was advertised last month. Initial interviews have been set up for the week of <br /> Apirl 9. <br /> Park Maintenance Worker Position Vacancy <br /> Initial interviews for the Park Maintenance position vacancy were held February 20. Second round <br /> interviews were then held at the City Maintenance Facility on February 28 with two very qualified <br /> candidates.We chose a final candidate who then pulled his name.
