Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter—Conservation&Key Accounts Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
April 10, 2018 6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Staff is working with Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA)to develop a
transition plan for current customers that are participating in the load management
programs offered by ERMU. As MMPA will not be implementing any direct load control
programs in the foreseeable future, ERMU will continue transitioning to time-of- use
rates or elimination of the programs in the coming years.
• The 2018 Chevy Bolt has been built and is in the transport process. The vehicle should be
delivered to ERMU in April. The level two ChargePoint charger has arrived and is
awaiting installation once the frost is gone. The charger will be located in the City
Hall/ERMU parking lot.
• As a result of the previous month's cold weather, there have been numerous customer
concerns about their energy use and associated bills.
• Staff is working with MMPA on the transition of Conservation Improvement Programs
(CIP). Staff will be reaching out to MMPA member utilities to research how they track
and report CIP activity.
• In the last 30 days, the level two charger downtown has had 7 charging sessions, and
provided customers with 29 kWh of green energy. The DC fast charger at the Coborn's
fuel station has had 14 sessions and provided 197 kWh of green energy to customers.
ChargePoint has replaced a communication board for the combo connector on the DC
fast charger; we continue to work with their service people to get the combo unit fully
functional.
• Attended the Lincoln Elementary School presentation by MMPA and the Science
Museum of Minnesota on energy and efficiency. MMPA visited St. Andrew's, Twin
Lakes, Meadowvale, Otsego, and Lincoln Elementary this year.
• Commercial rebate activity has been a bit slow so far this year. Staff is expecting at least
three large rebates that will hit the cap of$25,000 in 2018. Staff has been in
communication with all three customers and has received paperwork on one project to
date.
IRI
