Elk River Municipal UtilitieS UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Troy Adams, P.E.—General Manager MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: April 10, 2018 6.1a SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA)met on March 27, 2018 at the offices of Shakopee Public Utilities in Shakopee, Minnesota. I was not able to attend; Commissioner Al Nadeau did attend. The Board approved an updated Distributed Generation tariff to be implemented by MMPA members' governing bodies. Participation in MMPA's residential Clean Energy Choice program increased over February, with seven different MMPA members having new customer signups during the month. Customer penetration of MMPA's Clean Energy Choice program for residential customers is at 2.6%, with a range of market penetration by member of 1.5%to 5.6%. The Board approved Clover Ridge Elementary School in Chaska as a Hometown Solar Grant recipient. The Board discussed the status of renewable projects that the Agency is pursuing. • Our Power Provider Migration Plan is one of our highest priority initiatives and there is a firm deadline of October 1, 2018. As noted last month, there were load and generation node transfers submitted by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) March 15 deadline. These transfers were successfully submitted and MISO is in the process of reviewing the request. ERMU, Great River Energy (GRE), and MMPA have another conference call regarding these action items on Monday May 7. • On March 19, I held a quarterly meeting with Greg Ridderbusch, Connexus CEO/President. We had discussed GRE, CIP, new technologies, legislative advocacy, and industry trends. As always, our quarterly meetings produce great discussion and bring to light opportunities. • The MMUA Legislative Conference is scheduled for April 11 — 12. We will be at the Capitol on the afternoon of Wednesday April 11. Page 1 of 2 179
