+// <br /> Item: 7 <br /> c` <br /> Elk Memorandum <br /> �-� <br /> River <br /> To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> From: Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Date: March 14,2018 <br /> Subject: Director's Report <br /> This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to collaborations, strategic <br /> planning,staff changes/developments,and park operations. <br /> Proceed with Park Improvement Projects <br /> On March 5,the City Council was informed of the Commissions recommendation to proceed with <br /> the following three projects: <br /> • Dave Anderson Athletic Complex scoreboards for$40,000 <br /> • Dave Anderson Athletic Complex irrigation for$120,000 <br /> • Oak Knoll Athletic Complex field lighting and scoreboard for$125,000 <br /> Council Member Wagner expressed reservations with moving forward on the Dave Anderson <br /> Athletic Complex (DAAC) improvements due to the uncertainty of the location for the arena/civic <br /> center. She stated she is in favor of the Oak Knoll Park improvements. <br /> It was suggested a motion to approve the Oak Knoll improvements with DAAC improvements <br /> contingent upon the later work session discussion. The Council discussed the facility but did not <br /> discuss the DAAC improvements. The DAAC improvements will continue to be placed on hold <br /> until further Council action. <br /> Council approved the Oak Knoll athletic field lighting and scoreboard project. Delivery of the lights <br /> should occur within five weeks with two weeks for installation,weather dependent. <br /> Elk River Fest <br /> The Council approved moving forward with the downtown open street festival program on <br /> Saturday,July 7 and approved the name Elk River Fest. All downtown businesses were contacted by <br /> staff and each expressed support. The concert at Rivers Edge Commons Park for this event will be <br /> a Buddy Holly tribute band"The Night the Music Lived."
