The site has a locker room building for a warming
house, a parking lot, and lighting.
Currently, three skating rinks are located within neighborhood parks: Kliever Lake Fields,West Oaks
Park and Riverplace Park. These rinks are smaller in size and do not contain boards for boot or stick
hockey or warming house facilities;however goals are provided at each facility and snow is banked to
provide a partial backstop.
The cost of maintaining outdoor rinks was last discussed at the March 9,2017, Commission meeting.
Based on those costs and low usage patterns, the Commission recommended Trott Brook Farms Park no
longer have an outdoor ice rink, decreasing our inventory of neighborhood ice rinks from to three. The
expenses to maintain our outdoor rinks will be presented at the February 14 Commission meeting.
Staff and Spectrum High School are further discussing other resources available if the city decides to
operate an outdoor ice rink at their facility.
Financial Impact
None at this time
Attachments
• None
The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional p® r E R E B BY
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity NATURE
