�W"^_� City of Elk River <br />ver City Council <br />Resolastion i8- n7 <br />A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Supporting Corridors of <br />Commerce Funding of Safety and Mobility Improvements on TH 169 in Elk River <br />WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 169 from the Mississippi River to CSAH 33 in Elk River carries in <br />excess of 47,500 vehicles a day with an additional 40,000 side street movements served; and <br />WHEREAS, the safety and performance of this corridor continues to decline every year; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota and the Metropolitan Council has identified this segment of <br />Principal Arterial roadway at the highest level of need for conversion to grade separation of the <br />intersections; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Elk River has vested over $1 million in local funding to complete the <br />preliminary design and environmental review that have received a Find of No Sign cant Impact from <br />the Federal Highway Administration; and <br />WHEREAS, it is recognized, beyond the daily commerce and local trips served, this is an <br />important corridor that serves the many recreational users of northern Minnesota and beyond. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Elk River City Council supports a project that <br />would provide grade separation for the five existing at -grade signalized intersections (TH10 ramp, <br />Main Street, School Street, 193`d Avenue, 197th Avenue) on TH169/101 corridor; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED should funding be insufficient for the full project the City of Elk <br />River supports a smaller project that would provide grade separation for three existing at -grade <br />signalized intersections (TH10 ramp, Main Street, School Street) on the TH169/101 corridor, with <br />the remaining intersections (193`d Avenue, 197' Avenue) to be considered in the future; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the City of Elk River supports MnDOT allocating funding of <br />the above-described improvements through the current Corridors of Commerce project solicitation. <br />Passed and adopted this 16th day of January, 2018. <br />rhn <br />. ietz, May x <br />ATTEST: <br />Tina Allard, City Clerk <br />11111RE1 II <br />NATUREI <br />
