Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance & Office Manager MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: January 9, 2018 6.1b SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • The auditors will be here Monday, January 8th for preliminary audit work and I will provide a verbal update at the commission meeting regarding this. • Inventory counts were Thursday, December 28, 2017, for both Water and Electric. Water had 100%accuracy and Electric had 99.7%accuracy. (For 2016, Water had 100% accuracy and Electric had 99.1% accuracy.) Both were exceptional and I commend staff for a job well done! The auditor was not able to make it for observation on this date and will be performing test counts on January 8th instead,when here for preliminary work as noted above. • Early Performance Metrics Incentive Compensation (PMIC)preliminary reporting for 2017 4th quarter is attached,which shows a score of 90 out of 100. The missing 10 points is the Employee Turnover metric of 8.9%, which is over the goal of<7.5%. Final presentation of this will be in April 2018 when the financial audit is completed and those final numbers are available. We will need to accrue this expense for the audit and will be using the score of 90 and the multiplier of 100%for our calculations, effectively 1.8%. • Multiple billing cycles is officially underway. We have received some feedback from individuals happy with their new cycle and due date, as well as unhappy for the same. We did our last monthly billing on December 20, 2017, and our first single cycle billing on January 3`d, 2018. There were quite a few phone calls for paperless billing customers with this first billing cycle and it seems they overlooked the communication we sent or wanted additional clarification once the bill was received.
