Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Troy Adams, P.E.—General Manager MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: January 9, 2018 6.1a SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA)met on December 19, 2017 at the offices of Shakopee Public Utilities in Shakopee, Minnesota. I attended, but Commissioner Al Nadeau was not able to attend as ERMU's alternative representative. Participation in MMPA's residential Clean Energy Choice program increased 9%over November, with more than 100 new customers signing up for the program. Customer penetration of MMPA's Clean Energy Choice program for residential customers increased to 2.5%,with a range of market penetration by member of 1.2%to 5.5%. The Board approved MMPA's budget and rates for 2018. The budgeted average rate to members for 2018 is $75.15 per MWh, a 1.1% increase over the 2017 budget. The Board discussed the status of the renewable projects that the Agency is pursuing. The Buffalo Solar project is nearing completion. The Board elected the following officers for 2018: John Crooks—Chair, Matt Podhradsky—Vice Chair, Brian Frandle— Secretary, Troy Adams—Treasurer. Elk River has been selected to host the 2018 MMPA Annual Meeting. This is meeting is scheduled for July 2018. Details to be provided at a later date. • On December 18, I met with Greg Ridderbusch of Connexus Energy for our scheduled quarterly meeting. At this meeting ERMU provided formal notice of intent to acquire electric services territory Areas 5&6 per the provisions of the March 20, 2015, transfer agreement. The transfer for Areas 5&6 is tentatively scheduled for September 2018. An annual joint operational meeting will be held on January 9.
