This will be approximately$411,000.
Background/Discussion
Since the November 8,2017,Parks and Recreation meeting where the Parks and Recreation Commission
postponed action on the request, staff has been working with the applicant on trying to locate their half
of a larger park within the proposed development. It has been stated by the Parks and Recreation
Commission the desire of the city is to have a park similar in size, facilities, and uses as that of Trott
Brook Farms. The desire is a park approximately 10-12 acres in size with street frontage on two sides.
After further reviewing the site and contours, the best thing for both the city and the applicant is to not
include park land in this development. The proposed site is not conducive of providing the type of park
the city desires. The city can obtain their desired park in this general area when the property to the south
develops. The topography here appears to be more suited for the desired type of park.
This process will allow the city to work with a single property owner in achieving their goal versus
coordinating between a current development and a future development.
Due to state statute timelines, this application will need a recommendation from the Parks and
Recreation Commission at the December 13,2017,meeting. If the commission disagrees with staff on
their recommendation, they can recommend the remaining park dedication be satisfied with land. Staff
will take both recommendations to the city council for their decision.
Financial Impact
None
Attachments
• Location Map
• Previous Park Concepts
• Concept Plat
The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional ri E1E1 1service, and communityengagement that encourages and inspires prosperityA €
