Item: 8.2
Eof
lly
Memorandum
River
To: Parks and Recreation Commission
From: Tim Sevcik,Park Superintendent
Date: November 8, 2017
Subject: Staff Report
Athletic Complexes
Installation of the dugout kits was delayed due to contractor scheduling. Installation began on
November 2 and will be completed during the winter months. Staff continues to regrade and reshape
the infield playing surfaces at YAC and Oak Knoll in order to correct drainage issues on both fields.
Dave Anderson Athletic Complex Irrigation
Installation of the new irrigation system at the Dave Anderson Athletic Complex was delayed due to
adult softball and youth football seasons going longer than anticipated as a result of weather
cancelations. With the colder temperatures and frost beginning to form, work on the new irrigation
system will not be complete in 2017 and will require work to be conducted in 2018. Staff will be
working on scheduling of the irrigation installation with Recreation Staff in the coming weeks.
Skating Rinks
Staff completed preparations on the outdoor skating rinks to include replacement of damaged boards at
Lions Park and Handke Pit as well as grading and rolling the surfaces at these two locations. Staff is
prepared to begin flooding rinks once weather conditions permit.
Volunteer Efforts
Volunteers conducted several projects over the past month to include regrading a section of trail at
Woodland Trails Regional Park, installing a stairway to the observation deck at the north end of the
Great Northern Trail, removing fence posts, barbwire fence, and debris from the William H. Houlton
Conservation area, and pruning trees at the City Hall Campus,in addition to the many other routine
tasks they conduct within the parks.
POWERED IT
N:\Departments\Parks and Recreation\Commission\Packets\2017\11-08-17 PRC Packet\8.2 Park Superintendents NATURE
Report.docx
