fl-( <br /> Item: 7 <br /> Elk Memorandum <br /> River <br /> To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> From: Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Date: October 17,2017 <br /> Subject: Director's Report <br /> This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to collaborations, strategic <br /> planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations. <br /> Elk Rivers Ice Arena and Lion John Weicht Park Facilities RFP <br /> On Monday, October 2,2017, the City Council approved hiring 292 Design Group to complete <br /> architectural services for the Arena and Lion John Weicht Park Facilities. <br /> Three proposals were received and all three firms were interviewed. <br /> • HTG Architects $1,320,000 <br /> • JLG Architects $898,000 <br /> • 292 Design Group $1,065,000 <br /> Staff believes all three firms are well qualified to do the work. Following an internal review,292 <br /> Design Group received the strongest support for the project due in part to their team and team <br /> continuity,work plan deliverables,project schedule,understanding of project scope, and revised fee. <br /> Staff felt that 292 Design Group assembled an exceptionally strong and proven team of experts—in <br /> fact, the same team proposed for Elk River just completed the $30.4 million Shakopee Ice Arena <br /> and Community Center renovation project. <br /> Following approval, 292 Design Group has started to quickly begin schematic design to kick-off the <br /> proposed compressed schedule to meet an April construction date timeframe.
