Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Mark Fuchs—Electric Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
October 10, 2017 6.1c
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Had 19 new house services.
• Continue working on collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time
permits.
• We energized the Waco 2 substation on September 21 and put load on it September 28.
• We have finished Miske Meadows 1st and 2nd Addition; the project consisted of 88
residential lots.
• Michels Pipeline completed the installation of utilities in Miske Meadows 3rd Addition,
allowing us to continue work on setting transformers, street lights, and terminating wire.
There are 17 residential lots in this addition.
• Acquired Areas 3&4 from Connexus on September 19. We are now in the process of
changing out locks, removing tags from poles, and adding new signage to underground
equipment. Throughout this process, we'll be verifying what's in the map book to make
sure it's correct.
• Continue installing the infrastructure in areas 5&6 heading north of the Waco substation.
These two areas will be acquired in 2018. These areas will require more work because
Connexus is keeping their feeder in these areas.
• We have finished Prestigious Woodland Hills 4th Addition. There are 21 residential lots
in this addition.
• We have started rebuilding the overhead line south of 197th Avenue to 190 %2 Lane on the
east side of Highway 169. Part of this line will be placed underground from 193rd Avenue
to 190 %2 Lane.
• Installed two security lights for the Parks Department; one at the dog park by Orono Lake
and one at Auburn Park.
• Bored in a water line for the water department along the south side of Highway 10 from
Xenia Avenue to Simonet Drive.
• On September 9 ERMU responded to a request for mutual aid in Florida. The call for
mutual aid was for anticipated storm recovery work that would be needed in the wake of
Hurricane Irma. ERMU deployed a crew of two lineworkers who worked to restore
power in the areas Kissimmee and Lake Worth, Florida. The ERMU lineworkers
responding were Scott Thoreson and Matt Schwartz. Scott and Matt returned home safety
on September 21.
94
