Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> September 12, 2017 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In August, The Locating department had a total of 484 locate tickets consisting of six <br /> emergency tickets, 6 cancellations, 10 meetings, 399 normal tickets and 57 updated <br /> tickets. This is a 14%increase in volume of tickets from the previous month. Met with <br /> the City Administrator and Community Operations and Development Director regarding <br /> their need for a Sewer Locator. The city will retain the responsibility for this position and <br /> will continue to move forward in the hiring process. <br /> • Electric Technicians continue with the meter reading,power bill, substation checks, <br /> hanging red-tags, meter read-outs, disconnects, reconnects, dealing with meter and off- <br /> peak issues, as well as delivering and installing new meters to commercial customers. <br /> • On August 29, Dave Nathe's electric service was reconnected. <br /> • Staff tested Waco Bank#2 recloser controllers and found that everything passed. United <br /> Services Group (USG) also tested the reclosers for the official signoff. Staff will compare <br /> USG's test results with our test results and develop testing standards. <br /> • Staff continues to perform meter audits throughout the system. We have received a <br /> number of complaints from the recently acquired Connexus residential customers <br /> pertaining to workspace clearance requirements around the meters. These clearances are <br /> minimum safety requirements found in National Electric Code (NEC) 110.26 and <br /> National Electric Safety Code (NESC) 125. Meters for Acquisition Areas 3 and 4 arrived <br /> and preparations have begun in anticipation of the September 19th transfer. <br /> • The power plant staff did the monthly engine run in the last week of August. All engines <br /> ran well with no problems. <br /> • Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our <br /> systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. Staff reports that mapping of <br /> electric surface structures is about 75%complete. Transformers are about 45%done and <br /> poles are around 40% complete. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 91 <br />
