Installation of the new dugout slabs will be conducted in September and it is
anticipated that the dugout kits will be installed sometime in mid-October. Final completion of the
dugouts will be in November weather permitting, however an early winter may delay final completion
until the spring of 2018.
Trail Projects
Construction of the trail segment north of the high school was completed in late August. Work has
begun on the trail segment at Kliever Lake Fields with the concrete portion between the two storm
water basins now complete. Paving of the new trail segment will be conducted in the coming weeks.
Barrington Park Playground
The Barrington Park playground project is complete and this playground has quickly become the second
busiest playground within the city. Several home daycares are located nearby and the feedback from the
kids as well as the providers has been positive. An additional light has been added to the park for
security purposes in order to try and prevent vandalism to the park.
Handke Pit and Lions Park Ice Rinks
During the storms in June, the boards at both the Handke Pit and Lions John Weicht Park ice rinks
were severely damaged as a result of the high winds. Staff constructed new boards during the course of
the summer and the new boards were installed in both locations this past week. Over two thirds of the
boards were damaged between the two sites and required building new boards, frames and additional
sandbags. Crews will be out to paint the boards in the coming weeks.
Trott Brook Tennis Court Resurfacing
Resurfacing of the tennis courts at Trott Brook Farms Park was conducted in August. Over 400 feet of
structural cracks were repaired and multiple coats of surfacing were applied.
