Recognize the promotion of Officer Adam Bebeau to the position of Patrol Sergeant effective <br />September 6, 2017. <br />2. Mayor Dietz to administer the oath of office to Officer Adam Bebeau. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The special services sergeant position has been vacant since April 30, 2017, following the retirement of <br />Sergeant Dave Dummer. The chief has assigned Patrol Sergeant Dan Block to special services sergeant <br />creating a patrol sergeant vacancy. <br /> <br />After an internal promotion process, Adam Bebeau has been selected to patrol sergeant. The patrol <br />sergeant is responsible for daily supervision of patrol officers. <br /> <br />Officer Bebeau is exceptionally qualified as an 11-year veteran of the department; he has earned a number <br />of department awards and commendations and formerly served as the K9 Handler to Police K9 Zeus <br />since January of 2009. Adam also serves as a Field Training Officer, bike patrol team member and <br />instructor, as well as a firearms instructor. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />This position is currently budgeted and he will start at $42.41 per hour, based on the Patrol Sergeant <br />Labor Agreement. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> Oath of Office <br /> <br /> <br />The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional <br />service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity <br />
