Elk River .M <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Eric Volk—Water Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> August 8, 2017 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered five new water meters. <br /> • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from four water services. <br /> • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br /> o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br /> o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br /> o All samples met MDH standards. <br /> o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report(DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant <br /> • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report(DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants <br /> • Well#6 was pulled for maintenance as the discharge capacity of the well had decreased <br /> by over 300 gpm over the last couple of years. After pulling the well,we discovered that <br /> one of the bowls was severely worn and the rest were due to be replaced. The well is <br /> scheduled to be reinstalled sometime this week. Originally Well#9 was the one due to be <br /> pulled for scheduled maintenance in 2017. <br /> • We received our report from the leak detection company for all of the hydrants east of <br /> Highway 169. We discovered that there were 17 hydrants leaking. We have repaired all <br /> of the hydrants that are located in the public right-of-way. I will be working with owners <br /> of the private hydrants that were identified as leaking. <br /> • The water operators have completed the gate valve maintenance for the year,which <br /> included operating and inspecting over 350 gate valves. This figure includes all of the <br /> valves located in street project areas.
