<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />TOWN OF ELK RIVER <br />March 11, 1924 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Annual Town Meeting was held at the Courthouse. Meeting called to order by Clerk at 10 A.M. <br />Fred Sacks was chosen to preside as Moderator at the meeting, and dispensed the reading of the <br />reports of the Board of Audit and Clerk. Treas. report read and approved. <br /> <br />The following sums were voted to be raised by taxation, for the coming year: <br /> <br />For Revenue \[Fund\] $400.00 <br />Road & Bridge \[Fund\] $2000.00 <br />Poor Fund None. <br /> <br />Motion made, seconded, and carried, that we pay the Assessor $150.00 (One-Hundred & Fifty) <br />dollars for the year. <br /> <br />Business meeting was then adjourned, and polls declared open at 11:00 A.M. <br /> <br />At 4 o’clock P.M. the polls were declared closed and ballots were counted. <br /> <br />There were ninety ballots cast. <br /> <br />Chas. Hinz, receiving 90 votes, was declared elected Supervisor for 3 yrs. <br />R.R. Simpson, receiving 51 votes, was declared elected Town Clerk. <br />E.G. Palmer, receiving 90 votes, was declared elected Treas. <br />W.H. Meyers, receiving 85 votes, was declared elected Assessor. <br />J.E. Bloomdahl, receiving 88 votes, was declared elected Justice of the Peace. <br />Fayette H. Putnam, receiving 87 votes, was declared elected Constable. <br /> <br />A vote was taken on the County Agent proposition with 88 votes cast, 56 for and 32 against. <br /> <br />\[No note re: adjournment.\] <br /> <br />R.R.
