Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> July 11, 2017 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In June, The Locating department had a total of 596 locate tickets consisting of eight <br /> emergency tickets, 14 cancellations, 9 meetings, 512 normal tickets and 51 updated <br /> tickets. This is a 9% decrease in volume of tickets from the previous month. Locate staff <br /> has been assisting the county with locating fiber near the Government Center. <br /> • Electric Technicians continue with the meter reading,power bill, substation checks, <br /> hanging red-tags, meter read-outs, dealing with meter and off-peak issues, as well as <br /> delivering and installing new meters to commercial customers. Staff has been working on <br /> programming recloser controls in preparation for the energizing of the Waco 2 <br /> Substation. Staff also continues to work through details of the upcoming multi-billing <br /> cycle transition that will be implemented towards the end of the year. Meters have been <br /> ordered in preparation for acquisition Areas 3 and 4. <br /> On June 19, Lead Electrical Technician Michael Price gave notice that he will be retiring. <br /> His last day is July 10. <br /> • The power plant staff did the monthly engine run in the last week of June. All engines, <br /> with the exception of Engine 1, were run. The faulty synchronizer motor on Engine 1 was <br /> repaired by Alliance Machine and reinstalled by staff. Attached is the invoice. There is <br /> still another issue that will require further investigation to find the problem. <br /> • Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our <br /> systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. In addition, staff set-up map book <br /> and inventory barcoding on iPads for the linemen, updated GSOC territory boundaries in <br /> anticipation of the Area 3 &4 acquisition, and acquired GPS coordinates for the Otsego <br /> streetlights for the proposed transfer. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> • Alliance Machine Invoice—Generator Assembly Gear motor Repair <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 213 <br />
