We received 73 applications and offered interviews to seven candidates. Because Mr. Zakem's <br /> first interview was via Skype,we asked him to come to Elk River for a second interview. <br /> Mr. Zakem has been working for the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department for <br /> the past seven years. Initially his focus was in the recreation area•,however,Mr. Zakem tired of being <br /> indoors and was able to begin working in parks maintenance. Mr. Zakem has both Bachelor and Master's <br /> Degrees in Recreation Management,which gives him unique insight into field prep and schedule <br /> coordination. He also is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional. <br /> This position is part of the IUOE Local 49 union and pay and benefits will follow the labor contract or <br /> city policy.
