Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Eric Volk—Water Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> June 13,2017 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered nine new water meters. <br /> • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from nine water services. <br /> • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br /> o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br /> o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br /> o All samples met MDH standards. <br /> o Completed one MDH fluoride validation sample <br /> o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report(DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant. <br /> • We completed our annual round of hydrant flushing. The flushing was finished up the <br /> morning of May 12. <br /> • The WTP#7 Expansion has passed the final building inspection from the building <br /> department. We still have some paint touch ups, a few programming issues, and some <br /> landscaping details to tie up before the job will be complete. <br /> • Working with Kjolhaug Environmental to get the storm water pond at the field services <br /> building removed from the wetland. If we're successful at getting this removed, we'll <br /> save money when it comes time to mitigate for the wetland that is on the property when <br /> we start work on the expansion. <br /> • The water operators have exercised and completed preventative maintenance on over 200 <br /> valves so far this year. They have also found six valves that were off that should not have <br /> been. By finding the closed valves and opening them,water quality in those areas will be <br /> more consistent. <br /> • The contractor has partially completed the leak detection for this year. We are going to be <br /> working with the contractor to identify any leaks we may have in the coming month. <br /> • Water Operator Nick Adams gave notice; his final day was June 9.
