<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />TOWN OF ELK RIVER <br />March 10, 1908 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes of the Proceedings of The Annual Town Meeting at the Annual Town Meeting held in the <br />Town of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota at the Phoenix Hall in the <br />Village of Elk River on the 10th day of March A.D. 1908. <br /> <br />And was called to order by C.E. Brown, Chairman of the Town Board. <br /> <br />And Al Tourttillotte was then chosen to preside as Moderator of the Meeting. <br /> <br />The Moderator at the opening of the meeting stated the business to be transacted and the order of <br />same as follows: <br /> <br />To elect one Supervisor for the term of three (3) years, to fill the place of W.A. Frye, whose term <br />expires, one Town Clerk, one Treasurer, one Assessor, 2 Justice of the Peace, 2 Constable, and to do <br />any other business proper to be done at said meeting. <br /> <br />st <br />That said business would be entertained in the following order: 1, the election by ballot of Town <br />nd <br />Officers; 2, at 2 o’clock P.M., the Town Clerk read publicly the report of the Board of Auditors <br />including a Statement of the fiscal concerned \[sic\] of the Town, and an estimate of the sums <br />necessary for the currant \[sic\] year. <br /> <br />On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by taxable property in said <br />Town for the following purposes for the currant year. <br /> <br />On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by taxable property in said <br />Town for the following purposes for the current year: <br /> <br />For Revenue Fund One Hundred $100.00 <br />For Road and Bridge Fund Ten Hundred $1,000.00 <br />For Cemetery Fund $25.00* <br /> <br />It was then on motion resolved that the compensation of Town Officers elected at this meeting shall <br />be Two Dollars per day. <br /> <br />At 5 o’clock the polls were closed, proclamation thereof being made by the Moderator. The Judges <br />then proceeded to publicly canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest number of votes <br />for the respective offices voted for were \[word missing? sentence ends here\]. <br /> <br />The following is a statement of the result of the canvass of votes for the election of Officers and for <br />the various propositions submitted at the Annual Town Meeting in the Town of Elk River, County <br />th <br />of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, March 10, 1908, as publicly canvassed by the Judges at said <br />Meeting. <br /> <br />
