\[from VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL meeting minutes ledger\]

Office of
VILLAGE COUNCIL,
Elk River, Minn.

rd
Elk River, Minn., Nov 3, 1905

M. M. Fowler Esq. Supt.
Minneapolis Minn.

Dear Sir

The Common Council of this Village are anxiously waiting to hear from you in regard to a
flagman at the R.R. Crossing here of which I wrote to you some weeks ago, and have instructed me
to again call your attention to the matter and in doing so to advise you that the G.N. R.R. Co. have
made an arrangement whereby the Council think that it will make the Crossing in question
\[comparatively?\] safe so far as their trains are concerned and provided your company comply with
our Village ordinance or the State tax relating to the speed in which you run your trains over the
crossing in the business portion of our Village.

The Council therefore feel warranted in asking your Co. to either provide the flagman at the
Princeton St. crossing or continuously comply with the ordinance as to the speed of your trains.
Kindly bear in mind or rest assured, that our Council in making this request do not do it to impose
any burden on the R.R. Co. because it is the R.R. Co. but only because the safety of our citizens and
the public using this crossing seem to them to demand such protection from your Co.

Kindly give this matter your early attention and advise us of your decision of the matter \[is?\]
greatly \[appreciated?\].

Very respectfully yours,
Henry C. Hastings
Villg. Recorder
