<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 15, 1905 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />At a special meeting of the Common Council held at the Romdeune Drug Store, the following were <br />present, viz.: <br /> <br />Present: A.H. Nickerson, Pres.; Justus deBooy and H.B. Nickerson, Trustees; H.C. Hastings, <br />Village Recorder. <br /> <br />The following resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Common Council present: <br /> <br />Whereas W.F. Chadbourne is the lowest bidder for the construction of the bridge over the <br />Mississippi River and G.H. Mendenhall is the lowest bidder for the making of the earth fill for the <br />approach to said bridge in this Village, said bids being respectively $19,300 for said bridge and <br />$173.25 for said fill; therefore, resolved that said respective contracts be awarded to said parties <br />respectively at said prices and that and that \[sic\] the President and Recorder of this Village be <br />directed to execute to and with said bidders the formal contracts which are now before this Board <br />and which \[are?\] ordered to be filed for reference. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion were allowed: <br /> <br />Justus deBooy, street work, $3.65 <br />James C. Farfax, legal services, $10.00 <br />W.H. Houlton, rent of office and hall, $16.00 <br />Standard Oil Co., gasoline, $5.40 <br />Engineering Record, advertising bridge, $6.40 <br />Engineering News Co., advertising bridge, $7.80 <br />Improvement Bulletin, advertising bridge, $4.90 <br />G.E. Sloback, bldg. sidewalks, $2.00 <br /> <br />W.H. Houlton’s bill for cement sidewalk was laid over till next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />H.C.
