<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 27, 1904 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Common Council met at Romdeune’s Drug Store Feb. 27, 1904. <br /> <br />Present: A.H. Nickerson, Pres.; J. DeBooy, H.B. Nickerson and J.H. Romdeune, Trustees; <br />W.F. Chadbourne, Village Recorder. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed, and orders drawn for their respective <br />amounts to be signed in 10 days by President of Council: <br /> <br />W.B. Eaton, lighting lamps to date, $20.00 <br />Justus DeBooy, bal. due on rent of Rec. office, $4.00 <br />E.W. Johnson, Judge of Election Jan. 12, $2.00 <br />N.D. Trumbull, Judge of Election Jan. 12, $2.00 <br />Geo. Goodin, testing fire engine, $1.50 <br />Geo. Youso, bill hauling engine, etc., $5.25 <br /> <br />The last-named bill being one laid on table Feb. 15 for further information regarding it, \[and\] Geo. <br />Youso appearing before Council and explaining contents of bill, same was allowed. <br /> <br />The bond of Andrew Davis, Village Treasurer, was presented and on motion approved. <br /> <br />In the matter of telephone franchise, C.M Babcock appeared before Council and withdrew his <br />application for change of franchise. <br /> <br />In the matter of lighting st. lamps, Mr. W.B. Eaton having informed Council that he would not light <br />lamps for less than $20.00 per month, and said Council deeming this price too much procured to <br />services of Mr. Sverkerson, who agreed to do same for $15.00 per month, as reported by Trustee <br />H.B. Nickerson, who had interviewed said Sverkerson in regard to the matter. <br /> <br />No further business appearing, adjourned subject to call of President. <br /> <br />W.F.
