<br />Filed October 30, 1899: Official oath of Dr. C.J. Scoboria as Trustee. Chas. M. Babcock, <br />Recorder <br /> <br />Filed October 30, 1899: Receipt from Treasurer to Recorder for show license, $6.00. <br />Chas. M. Babcock, Recorder <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 30, 1899 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Village Council met at Recorder’s office at 8:00 o’clock. <br /> <br />Present: H.C. Hastings, President; H.D. Mills, Trustee; Chas. M. Babcock, Recorder. <br /> <br />On motion Mr. Babcock was instructed to purchase and lay pipe from G.N. Walton tank to public <br />square (with the necessary fittings). <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />The Best Street Light Co., $58.50 <br />Olie Sundby, $1.15 <br />W.H. Houlton & Co., $78.70 <br />Elk River Lumber Co. $9.05 <br />Frank P. Brown, cash paid from police bldg., $1.00 <br />Mr. Harten, street lighting, $12.00 <br /> <br />Resolved that the sum of one thousand dollars be and is hereby levied on the assessed valuation of <br />the Village of Elk River for the year 1899, for the Village tax of 1899, and that the Recorder be <br />instructed to notify the County Auditor of the same: <br /> <br />Yeas: H.C. Hastings, Mills, Scoboria and Babcock. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />On motion Recorder was instructed to order a cell 5 ft. by 6X6 by 6X6 ft. high from B.T. Barnum <br />to be shipped as soon as possible. <br /> <br />On motion it was voted to dispense with Mr. Harten’s services as lamp lighter and hire H.B. <br />Babcock at $15.00 per month and Rec. instructed to draw order the end of each month. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Chas.
