Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.7 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent May 15, 2017 Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Representative <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Fire and Building Safety Division Office Bob Ruprecht, Building Official <br />Assistant <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Melanie Crayford for the position of Office Assistant for the city’s Fire <br />and Building Safety division effective May 31, 2017. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Following the resignation of Office Assistant Jolene Richter, we went to market to fill the vacancy in the <br />Fire and Building Safety division. We received 149 applications and offered interviews to the top five <br />candidates. Following background and reference checks, Melanie Crayford is recommended for the <br />position of Office Assistant for the city’s Fire and Building Safety division. <br /> <br />Ms. Crayford has been working as a Receptionist/Office Assistant for the City of Otsego which includes <br />working with building permits, PermitWorks software, and several of the duties she will be performing in <br />our position. <br /> <br />Ms. Crayford will start at step A of pay grade 3 and will be eligible for a step increase after a successful <br />orientation period. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />This is a budgeted position. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> None <br /> <br /> <br />
