•i
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter—Conservation & Key Accounts Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 9, 2017 6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Working with customers who have questions on changes to cycled air conditioning
monthly credits and the end date of October 1, 2018. Customers with multiple load
management programs have also been calling regarding the sunset date for the dual fuel
and storage programs. Staff has determined potential transition options for all programs
and is currently working on the feasibility of those options.
• Working to get the level two charging station installed in the HRA parking lot downtown.
The level two charger should be installed in the next few weeks. After the installation
ChargePoint will begin marketing to their network of customers and ERMU will develop
marketing materials for a local grand opening. The site for DC Fast Charger is
progressing slowly. The proposed area has a complex mix of easements and ownership
that needs to be addressed prior to the redevelopment of the area. There is infrastructure
that possibly needs to be relocated to allow this land to be developed. Until the final plans
are determined for the area it's difficult to plan for the relocation of existing facilities and
the placement of new facilities to serve Ralphie's and the DC Fast Charger.
• The intern Jonas Scholz from University of Applied Sciences Muenster(Fachhochschule
Muenster) arrived on May 1. He is settling in well and will be working with utility and
city staff in the areas of: energy and water efficiency; waste water; and trash and
recycling. He will also have exposure to landfill and surface water regulations. Towards
the end of his stay, he will work on educational programs with area schools.
• Provided tours to North Hennepin Community College of Great River Energy, the Elk
River Landfill, and the Elk River Library.
• Commercial rebate and new account activity has very high this month with large rebates
going out to customers for lighting and heating and cooling rooftop units.
• Worked with Elk River Landfill to install a new electric service for the leachate pumping
facility located at the West Substation. Despite a few challenges, the field services did a
great job at getting the work done.
• Continue to work with legal services on the Wright Hennepin territory swap.
151
