Rec. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 3, 1898 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Common Council met at Co. Treas. Office on Monday, January 3, 1898. <br /> <br />Present: H.C. Hastings, Pres.; L. Pollard; F.P. Brown; W.F. Chadbourne, Rec. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Pres. at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />The object of this meeting being to close up the business for the year 1897. The Council proceeded <br />to compare orders paid by Treas. with sheets of order book and cancel same. <br /> <br />The report of Treas. was presented in due form showing receipts and disbursements for the year. <br /> <br />The report of Board of Auditors prepared by Rec. was presented and compared with Treas. report <br />and found correct. On motion reports of Treas. and Rec. accepted and ordered filed. <br /> <br />On motion L. Pollard was appointed Judge of Election to be held Jan. 11, 1898. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />W.H. Houlton, rent of office, $12.50, order 553 <br />Walter S. Booth & Son, blanks, $1.00, order 554 <br />C.W. Hayden, street lighting to date, $10.00, order 552 <br />W.F.
