<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 7, 1897 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Village Council met at the Recorder’s Office on Saturday, August 7, 1897. <br /> <br />Present: H.C. Hastings, Pres.; L. Pollard; F.P. Brown; W.F. Chadbourne, Rec. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Pres. at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and orders drawn for their respective <br />amounts: <br /> <br />Faun Brown, $13.75, order 514, street work0 <br />Fred Stimson, $12.50, order 515, street work <br />Charles Davis, $5.00, order 516, street work <br />Perry Clute, $10.00, order 517, street work <br />Will Sells, $5.00, order 518, street work <br />John Evans, $1.25, order 519, street work <br />L. Pollard, $13.30, order 520, street work <br />Frank P. Brown, $43.00, order 521, Mar. fees & lamps <br /> <br />Moved and carried that John Haywood be appointed Pound Master for the ensuing year and that his <br />yard be designated as Pound. <br /> <br />Voted to purchase 500 feet of 15” tiling for the purpose of draining street called Bridge Street. <br /> <br />On motion the Rec. was instructed to draw up an Ordinance prohibiting bicycles from using <br />sidewalks and have the same published according to law. <br /> <br />Mr. L. Pollard and Frank Brown were appointed a committee to view road across Mr. David <br />Parson’s land and see what is best to do in the matter. <br /> <br />Adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F.
