<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 11, 1897 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Village Council met at Recorder’s Office on Saturday, September 11, 1897. <br /> <br />Present: H.C. Hastings; L. Pollard; Frank P. Brown; W.F. Chadbourne, Rec. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President H.C. Hastings at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Moved and carried that the Recorder purchase enough tubing to drain water from the Railroad to <br />river. Estimated at 340 ft. and that the Council let the contract to put the same in place. <br /> <br />The following bills for road work \[were\] presented by L. Pollard, Road Master. On motion allowed <br />and orders drawn for their respective amounts and delivered to L. Pollard. <br /> <br />Faun Brown, $8.13, order 525 <br />Fred Bailey, $6.88, order 526 <br />E. Bailey, $13.75, order 527 <br />Perry Clute, $13.13, order 528 <br />L. Pollard, $15.06, order 529 <br />A.N. Dare, $3.00, order 530 for printing Ordinance No. 40 <br /> <br />Frank P. Brown, $53.75, order 531 for Marshal’s fees, street lighting and caring for lamps, mowing <br />th <br />weeds. It was voted to pay $10.00 per month for caring for lamps, commencing August 10 past. <br /> <br />W.L.
