<br />Filed December 21, 1896: Letter from Railroad Company <br /> <br />Filed December 26, 1896: Petition of fifteen legal voters of the Village of Elk River asking to <br />have the question of granting a license for the sale of intoxicating liquors submitted to the <br />voters of the said Village <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 11, 1897 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Common Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; Fred Hildreth; Andrew Davis, Recorder. <br /> <br />The purpose of this meeting being to close the business for the year 1896. <br /> <br />The Council then proceeded to compare all orders issued during the past year, and finding them all <br />correct, the same were cancelled. <br /> <br />The report of the Treasurer for the year 1896 was presented and, being found correct, was on <br />motion accepted, approved and ordered filed with the Recorder for record. <br /> <br />The report of the Board of Auditors, prepared by the Recorder, was presented, showing the <br />disbursements of the Village from January 13, 1896, to January 11, 1897, and the financial standing <br />of said Village. The same was officially signed by the Board and filed for record by the Recorder. <br /> <br />No further business appearing, on motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis <br />Recorder <br /> <br />
