<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 24, 1896 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council met at Chas S. Wheaton’s office at 8:30 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis, Albert Bailey and Fred Hildreth, Trustees; <br />Andrew Davis, Recorder. <br /> <br />The following resolution was presented and on motion accepted: <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of twenty-five and 00/100 dollars be appropriated to each of the ferries <br />across the Mississippi (known as the Elk River and Otsego ferries) if they will run free during the <br />ferry season of 1896 for the people of Wright County side of the river and for the people of the <br />Village of Elk River from 6 A.M. to 8 o’clock P.M. And in case one ferry ceases to run—that is, <br />ceases to be a ferry—the other ferry will be paid the sum of thirty-five ($35.00) dollars during such <br />time as the other does not run. <br /> <br />No further business appearing, on motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis <br />Recorder <br /> <br />
