Houlton & Co., $20.78 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 31, 1896 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Common Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office at 10:45 A.M. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; Fred Hildreth; Andrew Davis, Recorder. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and orders drawn for the amounts: <br /> <br />Roscoe Bither, laying sidewalk, $2.00 <br />Louis Olson, cutting weeds on streets, $1.88 <br />Chas S. Wheaton, drainage and trip to St. Paul, $5.75 <br />J.F. Lewis & Co., medicine to Meyer family, $5.25 <br />W.H. Houlton & Co., lumber, $20.78 <br /> <br />The following resolutions were presented and on motion adopted: <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of fifty dollar ($50) be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village of <br />Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the upper ferry) for the <br />months ending August 3 and September 3, 1896. Order payable to Jos. McDonald. <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of fifty-two dollars be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village of <br />Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the lower ferry) for the <br />month ending July 26 and August 26, 1896, and for six days in the month of May at ($35) thirty-five <br />dollars a month. Order drawn payable to Luther Hare. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned to Tues. eve at 8 o’clock September 11. <br /> <br />A true record. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis <br />Recorder <br /> <br />
